Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Koimoi - Mohar Basu
Atul Sabharwal evokes seething anger for not doing justice to the story he had. With a delicious premise like that, he barely manages to serve us anything beyond mediocrity. Trying to deal with too many subjects and points, he loses himself in the web of interpersonal relationships of his characters and the nail biting plot that he had. He has written excessive plots and sub plots, which gets tedious and arduous by the end.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Zeenews - Gayatri Sankar
Sabharwal does go weak and faulty in certain areas, but his efforts are indeed worth applause. It is never easy to fictionalise tales of corruption and gangsters on the silver screen.
The dialogues are apt and have the right amount of punch that is required. The film keeps you intrigued until the very end, but the climax does give a fair idea about what would draw the curtains down.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By IBNLive - Rohit Vats
Gangster thrillers always feel a dilemma about the pace and tempo of the story. Atul Sabharwal has banked on fast changing plots and it restricts the unfolding of latent emotions. Arjun Kapoor and Tanvi Azmi have spent a lot of screen time together but fail to create a high voltage emotional environment.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By DNA India - Tushar Joshi
However, you have to be patient with Aurangzeb as it takes a while before the storyline actually starts moving. The first half is strong, but the climax and focus on the family ties and relationship dilutes the hardcore gangster flick that it set out to be. Dialogues are sharp, but scenes between Arjun and his mother, or his relationship with Jackie are lengthy and ramble on beyond a point. Also, Sabharwal gives away too much too soon making the climax fall flat. Watch Aurangzeb for some stellar performances lead by Arjun Kapoor and a solid supporting cast.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Bollywood Hungama - Taran Adarsh
AURANGZEB catches your eye initially. There are numerous characters in this cat and mouse saga and the storytelling, although slow-paced, keeps the spectator glued to the proceedings. Atul, who has also penned the screenplay, focuses on drama more than action/violence and the back story of the prominent characters as well as the menacing games they indulge in results in an invigorating first hour. Atul makes sure he packages the narrative well with moments that, although predictable at times, stay with you.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Rediff - Sukanya Verma
Deeply derivative of the traditional Hindi film narrative where blood-ties gain precedence over individual turbulence, Aurangzeb works even in its inept form. Because, one, Sabharwal constructs a compelling, intricate conspiracy of deceit and motive around predominantly grey characters, where chances are anyone can turn a volte face, for better or worse.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Nowrunning - Mansha Rastogi
Debutant filmmaker Atul Sabharwal takes up a script of gargantuan proportions and mercilessly botches it up. The film had ample scope to turn into an engaging affair with ample twists and turns but what it turns out instead is a hackneyed 70's rip off.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Yahoo - Rummana Ahmed
The film might be a little too intense for some but if you are ready to overlook some gaping holes; the film is worth a watch. Arjun Kapoor and Prithiviraj Sukumaran rise above the slightly flawed execution to make ‘Aurangzeb’ quite engaging.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Dailybhaskar - Mayank Shekhar
It’s an appealing thought, but which needs to rest on a moral centre. This film has none. You don’t connect much with any of the characters. You applaud the pace and the performances. This makes the film much better than an average action flick. You feel rather hollow still, which makes it an average human drama. Either way, it’s necessary to report, there is something interesting going on here.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Mumbai Mirror - Karan Anshuman
Sabharwal is unable to maintain the authoritative control he has over the proceedings in the first quarter of Aurangzeb. He begins to idiot-proof the story and resorts to gimmicky drama as it begins to slip away from the viewer. As it is, the idea of lookalikes taking another, more powerful person's place has always been purely a cinematic trick and one on shaky ground.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Mid-Day India - Shubha Shetty-Saha
Arjun Kapoor in double role as Ajay and Vishal is earnest. He shines in some scenes too, but overall, he needs a lot more maturity to carry two roles of this kind of diversity on his young shoulders. Amitabh Bachchan too was in the same situation in 'Don'. But no, we won’t dare compare the two performances. Sasha Agha is less than ordinary (The song 'Barbaadiyan' is quite a revelation of her singing talent, though). Prithviraj is good, but seems stuck in a caricaturish role and ends up being stiff and repetitive.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By ApunKaChoice - Nikhil Kumar
It’s in the second half that the steam begins to go out and one senses that director Atul Sabharwal is at a loss as to which direction to steer the story. The drama begins to get somewhat predictable and even the twists begin to lose their bite. Thankfully, the director steps on the pedal again and takes the film to a fairly engaging but somewhat stretched climax.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Indiaglitz - Vishal Verma
Well directing crime series on tv and making a crime thriller is a different ball game all together and Atul Sabharwal just couldn't get it right after the initial impression. Even after having a script with satisfying twists the helmer is so relaxed in this outing that the viewer gets disinterested in the proceedings and fails to feel for the characters.. with so many solid emotions in the plot like greed, dream, ambition, aspiration, jealousy, love, sacrifice lost, gain.. Atul leisurely pace robs the movie and the audience from this emotions.. poor execution.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By Filmfare - Rachit Gupta
Aurangzeb would’ve done well had it built upon the Gurgaon premise. One where a growing city becomes a natural habitat for urban and organised crime. In fact, the movie packs quite a dramatic punch in scenes where the police become the grey force of this story. But right at the end it all goes South. Prithviraj miraculously pulls off a coup where he and the two Arjun Kapoors manage to bump off all the bad guys without even getting seriously injured. Sasheh Agha, the heroine of the movie, is practically nonexistent in the scheme of the film. If she’s the female lead, she should’ve had more to do than just don a bikini and make love to the hero.
Aurangzeb Movie Reviews By The Times Of India - Meena Iyer
Arjun Kapoor is still raw and needs polish to juggle the shades required to balance a twin role. This youngster has the long legs and broody look of Amitabh Bachchan in Deewar and Trishul, but when he tries to ape Bachchan's condescending act of sitting legs crossed at a meeting table, the punch is missing.
