Godzilla Movie Review

Following the atomic bomb tests in French Polynesia in the South Pacific, an unknown creature is spotted passing eastward. Scientist Niko Tatopolous is called in to look into the matter, and he quickly arrives at the conclusion that a giant, irradiated lizard- Godzilla has been created by the explosions. Godzilla then makes its way north, landing at Manhattan to begin wreaking havoc in the city. Even with the combined forces of the U.S. military to fight Godzilla, will it be sufficient to put an end to the chaos and save the people of New York.
Release Date: May 16, 2014
Director: Gareth Edwards
Cast: Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe
Verdict: The film which is the re-imagining of the 1998 version, falls short of the brilliance that surrounds Japan's most famous monster. The performances by Cranston and Olsen are good, and Taylor-Johnson as the lead is enjoyable, but then again, they're barely in the film. Godzilla himself misses a good chunk of the film, and the inclusion of other monsters steals focus from him. The action scene and CGI were good, but good have been better. But the main problem with the film is the pacing and the script, there are too many elements, badly presented and the film just falls apart in the middle. Although the pre-screening reviews were largely positive, this film didn't do it for me. I would give this a one time watch, at most.
