1.Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Indicine | Zayden
rooding, Devdas’ish RJ with a lot of restrained anger. The effort is visible in his performance and that’s not a compliment. He has improved a lot and should carry on doing whatever he’s been doing to carry on that journey. Shraddha Kapoor is adorable, charming and yet somehow isn’t a patch on the Kajols and Kareenas. She’d get better with age and experience. Also, the chemistry between her and Aditya isn’t as flawless as it’s meant to be.
2. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Bollywood Hungama | Taran Adarsh
AASHIQUI 2 seems like a renaissance for its two actors, who have appeared in Hindi films earlier. Aditya Roy Kapur's depiction of the intense character is outstanding. One can feel the agony and desolation his character is going through. The fact that it makes the spectator's heart flutter and bleed clearly demonstrates his potency as an artiste of caliber and competence. Shraddha also gets to sink her teeth into this challenging character and the attractive youngster is simply amazing, more so towards the demanding moments in the second hour. Furthermore, the chemistry between Aditya and Shraddha is incredible, which also proves yet again that the right casting can work wonders.
3. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By The Times Of India | Madhureeta Mukherjee
Aditya is likeable in mushy moments, he shows intensity in flashes but sometimes loses grip. A mature role like this demands a lot, nonetheless, it's a good effort. Shraddha looks innocently beautiful. Letting her emotions play out brilliantly in high-strung scenes with supreme confidence. This is a talent to look out for. The jodi's palpable chemistry heightens the drama. The music is the strongest supporting cast, with captivating tunes like Tum Hi Ho (Arijit Singh), Sunn Raha Hai (Ankit Tiwari) and Bhula Dena (Mustafa Zahid) pouring more passion in to the story.
4. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Rediff | Nishi Tiwari
The young actors look just as unconvinced and disinterested. While Aditya’s deadpan addict could give Zooey Deschanel a run for her money, it is Shraddha’s poverty-stricken and starry-eyed aspiring singer who talks like she was drugged especially for the entire duration of the film.
5. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Bollywood Life | Bollywood Life
While Shraddha looks pretty, fragile and earnest, Aditya does have his moments of glory, more so because he is good to look at, manages to deliver his lines without sounding like a child reciting a lesson in the classroom and has a track record that we like, with London Dreams, Action Replayy and Guzaarish to his credit. What does work better than expected is the chemistry between the two young leads – it could be real and will probably spawn some gossip!
6. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Dailybhaskar | Mayank Shekhar
The original Aashiqui belongs to a time in Indian films when sales of soundtracks alone could justify the making of movies. Cassette label T-Series and music directors Nadeem-Shravan used to be lords of the ring back in that decade when the nasal voice of Kumar Sanu followed you from one paan dukaan to the next corner-shop: “Saansonn ki zarooratta hai jaise...” Much about Bollywood may have changed since but the formula of the husky, melancholic male voice vocalising the tragedy of Indian romance, given that most of them remained unrealised, is unlikely to diminish in value ever. Four composers have worked on this film. There isn’t one song, barring the repetitive title track, that’s likely stick in your memory, which would be forgivable if the film wasn’t meant to be wholly a musical.
7. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Koimoi | Mohar Basu
Mohit Suri delivers a letdown of a film. Aashiqui 2 has not one impressive quality in it when it comes to direction. Bearing the same name as the yesteryear hit film of the Bhatt’s, this film is a show of comatose screenplay, in a script that lacks luster and energy and concludes in an anti climax. The musical has a likeable rhythm but overall the film with its slim plot cannot be expected to grow beyond its assigned surface! Arijit Singh’s Tum Hi Ho is stellar show but will sadly have a short shelf life.
8. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Nowrunning | Mansha Rastogi
To add to the agony you have two incompetent actors. For a character that remains largely intoxicated for most parts of the film, Aditya Roy Kapur appears extremely sober, wooden faced and incongruous. Shraddha Kapoor although appearing extremely pretty in the film, too fails to deliver as an actress. The Bhatt favourite Shaad Randhawa finds himself repeating his Awarapan act this time around too as the best friend/ally to the male lead. Mahesh Thakur doesn't get much scope to perform and Salil Acharya also repeated in a similar role as that of Awarapan gets wasted.
9.Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Glamsham | Martin D'Souza
Aditya Roy Kapur is a likeable bloke. You look hard for flaws but he measures up to the expectations of the makers. He is sincere in his portrayal as a singing star that has hit the bottle and is now on the wane. It's a surprise that he never once goes over the top. The only time he seems to be floundering is when the dialogues have no weight which leaves him wondering whether he said the right thing. In the very first scene, where he is to appear before a huge crowd at a concert in Goa, he is 'chilled out'. He carries a scene meant for a seasoned actor like a pro.
10. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By NDTVMovies | Saibal Chatterjee
Aditya Roy Kapoor, in his first full-fledged lead role, exudes the kind of confidence that borders on airiness. He is fine in the lighter moments, but when the drama turns intense, the chinks begin to show.
11. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Zeenews | Resham Sengar
Neither the story of `Aashiqui 2` is error-free nor is the direction by Mohit Suri unblemished. The scenes are dragged a bit too much at times and there are instances where the length of the sequences is abruptly shortened, which has hampered the quality of the entire film. The storyline’s logic does not go down well at several instances throughout the film.
12. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Indian Express | Shubhra Gupta
Mohit Suri knows how to get lovers to start off the blocks. And the best part of this film is these two trying out each other for size, despite an embarrassing meet-cute. Roy Kapoor shows he has mettle: I was wondering about that after his turns in Action Replayy and Guzaarish, bad films both, but his potential is clear in this one. Nigam also does a tad better than her earlier outings, but is patchy. The lead couple has a moment or two, but doesn't spark overall.
13. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By DNA India | Tushar Joshi
The film’s only saving grace are the melodious tunes and the background score. Performance wise Aditya Roy Kapoor has his moments when he’s stripped down emotionally. He shines in most of the poignant quiet moments like the one where he stands outside Aarohi’s vocal booth giving her reassurance. Shraddha looks pretty but needs to work on her diction. As a couple the two have the right chemistry for a romantic drama.
14. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Sify | Sonia Chopra
Neither a searing romance, nor a damp squib, this one falls somewhere in the middle. Worth relishing are the two young talented actors, and the sweet romantic story. Forgive the bizarre ending and awkward spaces in the film, and you have a fairly decent watch.
15.Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Movietalkies | Jaidev Hemmady
Frankly, this reviewer couldn't figure out what the entire drama was about, especially when the reasons behind Rahul's alcoholic tendencies were not made clear at all. Like mentioned earlier, the film seemed more like a musical documentary made about the evils of alcohol abuse than a love story. The second half too keeps dragging on for quite some time and some editing would have surely reduced the severity of our 'hangover'. Moreover, the chemistry between the lead actors is more like that of a mentor and a protégé than lovers.
16.Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Indiaglitz | IndiaGlitz
The performances by Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor are up to mark. Shraddha is charming with her innocent looks. Aditya Roy Kapoor also does well though he does not look like an ideal choice for the role. Mohit Suri makes a brave attempt at a love story and succeeds to some extent.
17. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Deccan Chronicle | Khalid Mohamed
Without a doubt, Mohit Suri ('Kalyug', 'Woh Lamhe') is a gifted director, who knows his shot takings and how to extract emotional frisson. Now, if only he didn’t have to wear the suit of the medium-budget, assembly-line productions of the Bhatt Brothers. Indeed, it is tempting to imagine Suri handling a gender-bender take on 'Abhimaan', studying a woman diva’s ego being dashed by her male discovery. Aah, wishful thinking! And maybe too unorthodox.
18. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Mid-Day India | Shakti Shetty
Director Mohit Suri chooses to follow the set template. There are barely any remarkable sequences. As the result, the movie relies heavily on the actors. Performance-wise, the first half scores an own goal whereas the second half is a revelation. Shraddha Kapoor’s portrayal of a conscientious lover is noteworthy as she showcases the emotional flair without going overboard. Overall, Aditya Roy Kapoor is promising but he struggles; especially during the scenes where he has to present a wasted artiste. Ranbir Kapoor effortlessly aced those very moments in Rockstar (2011).
19.Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By Yahoo | Rummana Ahmed
Aditya Roy Kapur’s performance however is almost perfectly pitched, despite the loopholes in the script. Shraddha gets a little squeaky in the emotional bits but there is an inherent innocence about her character that makes her vulnerable and likable. I wasn’t at all impressed with Shaad Randhawa’s performance.
20. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By India Today | Vinayak Chakravorty
Finally the music, the filmâs real winner. A battery of three composers (Mithoon, Jeet Ganguly, Ankit Tiwari) give the film its big reason to cheer for. Also, lend a ear to newbie singer Arijit Singh. Hereâs hoping Aashiqui 2 does for Arijit what the first film did for Kumar Sanu all those years ago.
21. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review By IBN Live | IANS
'Aashiqui 2' is a film with its heart in the right place. There are many moments of pure cliche between the lovers. And these moments, so deeply entrenched in the conventions of our cinema, blossom into fresh statements on modern love. It's a joy to see writer Shagufta Rafiqui and director Mohit Suri ferret out those feel-good places in the script where the protagonists plonk their emotions with a confidence and conviction that reaches out to the audience.
