Mumbai, Dec 9 (TruthDive): “Talaash”, director Reema Kagti’s latest venture starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee in leads, has done a very good business in the overseas market contrary to the average collection at the domestic box office. Reports published in boxoffice capsule site says the film has crossed 100 cr nett worldwide in 6 days.
Talaash collected about 64 cr nett plus in 6 days at the domestic box office and the overseas account added 36 cr nett plus.
Earlier last week, it was said that word of mouth for ‘Talaash’ was mixed which means a 100 crore milestone was always going to be a challenge. But, the great opening weekend on the box office and the tremendous collection in the overseas market has scaled up the target easily in just 6 days of release.
Talaash was released in 520 screens in 43 countries in overseas markets, just a day before it hit the screens in India.
The film is received well by the viewers abroad. The collection in various countries is: in UK, Talaash collected 04.10 cr, in USA the movie raked in 10.75 cr, UAE 09.75 cr, Australia 02.10 cr, New Zealand 00.50 cr and rest of the world collected 06.90 cr. The total overseas collections has rounded up to 34.10 cr.
The next target of the film is to cross the 100 crore mark in the domestic box office. But, the bigger problem for “Talaash” will be only 1000 odd screens in 2nd week with almost negligible contribution from single screens.
And also the film has to stiffly face the competition from the new release movie, Akshay Kumar’s “Khiladi 786″. Trade analysts say that the Akshay Kumar and Asin starrer, which has received a fantastic opening, would send down the collection of Talaash in the second week.
So, will the film cross the 100 cr nett at domectic box office? This will be answered soon on Sunday.
