Box office collection : Race 2 collects 74 crore in its first week (7 days)


Mumbai, Feb 2 (TruthDive): Bollywood movie Race 2 featuring Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham and Anil Kapoor in lead roles has collected 74.50 crore in its first week in the domestic market. The movie kept its business steadily not only at the Indian Box Office, but also at the international collection centres.
Race 2 was released worldwide on January 25. The movie enjoyed three continuous holidays, as January 25 was a Eid holiday, 26th was a Republic Day and 27th a Sunday.
As per reports given in boxoffice capsule, director duo Abbas-Mastan’s latest venture opened excellently with 15.10 cr nett on Friday. Then, the film made it big on Saturday collecting 20.70 cr net and 16.95 cr nett on 3rd day taking the film’s first weekend total to 52.75 cr nett.
The film performed moderately on the weekdays. The suspense thriller collected Rs 23.15 cr in the last four days thus making the first week total 74.50 cr net. The first week collection is now almost equal to the lifetime collections of Saif Ali Khan’s Cocktail (76 crores).
Breakup: – Weekend Rs 52.75 crores, Monday 6.9 crores, Tuesday 6.25 crores, Wednesday 5.50 crores and Thursday Rs 4.50 crores.
Race 2 has collected 21.00 crore in the overseas market, thus making the worldwide collection to 95.50 crore. The movie has to still collect 5 crores to cross the 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office.
Experts predict the film will continue to rule in its 2nd week too as there is no major release this weekend. “David” and “Vishwaroopam” have received only average response.
Race 2 is expected to collect at least 18-20 cr nett in 2nd week which will take it closer to 94-95 cr nett at the domestic market. Reaching the coveted 100 cr mark at the domestic market is believed to be little difficult for the movie. But, the multi-starrer movie is considered to be the first official hit of 2013.
